Day 5 – End of Spring Season

Posted on Updated on

Today was our last day of spring excavations – it was another gorgeous day in the field with lots of wildlife around the tell and plenty of interesting finds.

Some "Deer" in the Nearby Field - update these are (mountain/eretz israel) gazelle (Gazella gazella) HT: Aren Maeir

While we are quite happy with the results of our 5 days in the field – we are even more excited about the prospects of what awaits us this summer directly beneath the levels that we reached this week. This summer we should be able to uncover large sections of an 8th century BCE  building atop the tell, the Iron II corner fortification (tower?), and the large LB building with its associated cultic finds and tabuns. So please consider joining us this summer – June 12-July 1 – it should prove to be our best season yet! — Chris

Nice! One small comment: The “deer” that you show in one of the pictures is in fact a (mountain/eretz israel) gazelle (Gazella gazella).
