This afternoon, we attended the funeral of Anson Rainey. Anson was a great scholar, with vast knowledge on the Ancient NEar East, its cultures, languages and archaeology. Beyond being really one of the great scholars of his generation, as his students, we had the privilege of learning from one of the great scholars, yet also encountered a teacher who was always willing to listen, discuss, and be supportive. One great example of this is his enthusiasm and encouragement when we spoke to him about excavating at Burna.
He will be missed – Yehi Zichro Baruch!
