Sunday and Monday this week, we worked with IBEX. we spent the two days cleaning the walls, excavating another 32 survey pits (see previous post on the importance of these pits), and cleaning a bunch of agricultural installations around the site. In addition, Lior Weissbrod joined us, a specialist on microfauna, who is working with the large project on reconstructing Ancient Israel in identifying Iron Age rodents (and I dont mean the Philistines…). Lior excavated half of two silos, and collected the samples for wet-sieving and later picking out of the small microscopic bones back at the lab. here are some photos. thanks to IBEX students, Lior, and Chris, Mindy and Benj for arranging the outing!
